How We Analyze a New Circuit

Posted on November 18, 2020November 18, 2020 by GP Scout Team

It’s not every week, or month or season in-fact that MotoGP fans and riders have the excitement of traveling to a new circuit for a whole new race weekend experience. But with all the curveballs that 2020 has thrown our way, we welcome Portimao with open arms!

There’s plenty of coverage around how teams and riders prepare not only themselves, but the bikes for a new circuit. But how do race fans around the world prepare, educate themselves and begin setting their expectations for a new circuit? That’s where we come in! No, we may not have a handful, or in this case, any relevant historical data directly from this unique Portuguese circuit, but we got creative. By puzzling together Portimao from the other circuits included in the 2020 season, our team is able to better prepare and level expectations going into the race weekend. And so like a puzzle, we pieced together the new circuit sector by sector to identify those who have historically prevailed across multiple variables, in the most similar sectors.

Check back tomorrow for a complete rider ranking which will project those who are believed to pose the biggest threats. Additionally, we will analyze the circuit itself, the weather/what that means for this weekend and all things in between.

Happy Wheelie Wednesday!
